Information asymmetry
The Green Book, Central Government Guidance On Appraisal And Evaluation, Published by HM Treasury in 2020, suggests information asymmetry as: ‘…a difference in the information available to the parties involved in a transaction giving an advantage to one side over the other.’
The 2018 Green Book stated: ‘Information asymmetry is a difference in the information available to parties involved in a transaction that gives an advantage to one side. This is because it is relevant to determining an efficient contract, a fair price or for rewarding performance.’
